FOOD (and maybe some other things…)
This blog is about the world…viewed mainly through my stomach.
It was inevitable. My parents are both obsessed with food and cooking. Our lives revolve around the next meal. When starting one meal, we think about the next. I could be nothing else but a devoted foodie.
After starting this blog in London, I have spent the past 5+ years eating my way around Tokyo and Japan, and often writing about it. You can read some of my adventures work on my Contently portfolio.
When I am not eating, I am a business reporter, newsreader, documentary maker, and videographer, although sometimes I manage to do both at the same time.
I do food tours and research for delicious places in Tokyo and Japan. I also have in depth knowledge of Japanese regional cuisine.
For tours, inquiries or just if you want to say hello, please feel free to contact me.
About working in Japan
I often get asked what it’s like working in Japan as someone from overseas. In December 2019, a few others and I answered some questions on this topic (and I got made into a pretty cute cartoon too!)
Read about my experiences being a freelancer in Tokyo on TenshokuDo.
I’ll eat to that. I think the best way to learn about a culture is to walk their walk and eat their food. I look forward to reading your blog!
Thanks for stopping by! I think you’ve given me some food for thought (if you’ll excuse the pun) for a forthcoming post linking Japanese food to Japanese culture…just need to find the time to write it!
Btw your hina matsuri dolls are amazing!
hey what’s up! you’ve been gone from the blogging world for a while XD you can’t leave us hanging after the stoner cafe!
I am back! But in a different country 🙂
I have also just got my last box back from Japan haha!
last box bloggers unite!\O/
Phoebe! Now I’m off Facebook I can’t find a way to contact you except this – I don’t have your e-mail address and can’t work out Google+ at all. So – I’m coming to Japan from 27 Dec – 11 Jan. Want to meet up?
Would love a geographical breakdown of all the restaurants, like a little map on london with dots
Thanks for the suggestion. Been meaning to do that for ages – will get on it asap
Hey Pheebz! Popped you on my blogroll as a thanks for sharing such awesome foody posts x
Aw thanks! 🙂 And same to you – lots of foodie stuff please! 😉 x
Pheebz!!! ❤ \O/ Keep the food coming! Got a new blog and a nom de plume but it's Jenny from Those Who Travel 😉
Hey Jenny! Thanks for stopping by! I’m going to be diversifying the blog to include all kinds of adventures etc so watch this space!
WOW! You’ll be so far north! The area looks so beautiful, can’t wait to see all the pics and read your updates! I need to get myself up to Lake Towada some time 🙂
adventure and food ❤ wouldn't miss it for the world 😀 can't wait to see what Tokyo has in store for you! If you're ever near Waseda Daigaku definitely try out a curry restaurant called Tari-ya. It's 500 yen (was about two, three years ago) for one curry take out. but if you eat at the restaurant you get all you can eat naan bread 😉
Definitely! 😀 I've Google mapped it and it looks absolutely gorgeous ❤ Can't wait to get myself up there!
Oooh thanks for the recommendation! 500 yen = totemo yasui! 😀 😀 Keep me updated on life in the north!
I forgot to tell you!
You should try “Big fernane ” or ” PNY Burger” while you are in Paris!
Best parisian burger corner ^^
Bonnes vacances 🙂
Oooh! But do they do their burgers seignon or are they all bien cuit? 😉 you should join us for dinner if you’re free over the next few days – maybe we can go!
Haha, they do both, saignant and bien suit 😛
On Sunday or on Monday? I’m available these two days.
It would be great!
Nooo! Only just saw this – I am sorry to have missed you 😦 I want to go to Paris again soon though as I didn’t quite see everything (and I’m going to get old and turn 26 and have to pay for museums *sob sob*) so I’ll message you if so. By the way – that girl in the cooking class was from my university – SMALL WORLD!! :O
Big Fernand, sorry
